Camels Hump (again)

That November feel keeps going. Had an OK day skiing last Tue and then it rained 2+ inches on Wed and Thu. I walked down to the Winooski river later in the week and it was raging like it was peak Spring. Crazy amounts of water pouring over the falls from the rain and what little snow we had. Today was another hiking day. 1-2 inches of snow on top of bare ground or ice. Very nice blue sky day though and warmed up quickly from the 10 degree starting temps. Nice to be out there even though we really should be skiing this time of year.

Winooski river near work

Link below taken from overlook near work. I went down the same day. Crazy power and pretty amazing to stand next to it.

Huntington Skiing

Heading back from NH with Jack. Cold weekend with highs near 0. We stopped in Huntington on our way back and went x-country skiing. Thin base but nice powder on top and no tracks on the trail we went down. Fun afternoon but seriously cold!

Feb looks like Nov

February so far (executive summary):
Started warm, stayed warm, rained, got below freezing, didn't snow.
As a result there is no snow down low, some ice at about 2K feet and a few inches of snow on top of ice up high. Mad River is closed and Bolton x-country is closed.
So... back to hiking. A few pictures:

Sugar Hill Reservoir on Blueberry Hill x-country trails in Goshen. This is actually Jan 31. It was just above freezing and got considerably warmer just after this. Nice area!
