End of 2020

Still not a lot of snow although up high we got about 6 inches since rain. Another day of hiking at Mt Mansfield. Went down the long way and detoured to Devils Dish Pan. About 10 miles. Up and down Wampahoofus which was pretty slippery. Started out clear and got cloudy after I was off the top. Nice day!

Ski and hike - Stowe

Another combo ski/hike day. The skiing isn't good enough to want to stay for more than 2-3 hours. On this day the snow was reasonable but only a few trails open. This was a very clear day. You could see over to Mt Washington and all the nearby mountains really stood out. The hike was on the LT South toward Mansfield from Smugglers Notch. I made it to the top of the Adams Apple and then went part way up the final stretches of Mansfield. I was breaking trail for the top parts. Very nice views. Going down was fast and easy. About 6 inches of snow so you could let yourself go.

If the forecast is right, and it usually is when they are talking about rain in the winter, a total reset is coming up. 1.5+ inches of rain and 50 degrees in the mountains for about 24 hours. Since there isn't much of a base it should all go.

The first two pictures were taken while skiing. The rest are hiking:

Mt Washington in the back ground. Much better in real life!
