Grafton Notch State Park

Some waterfall viewing first thing in the morning and then two hikes. Bear river runs through the notch with lots of interesting falls.

Eyebrow trail loop to AT. Nice views of Old Speck and interesting steep trail with some waterfalls.

Table Rock Trail loop to AT. This was on the other side of the notch. Some boulder caves and big flat table rock at the top. Steep up then easy down on AT.

This is a nice park. There are other trails, including Old Spec which could be done another day.

Weather has been good with no rain but smoke from Canada fires continues. Long views are very hazy. Looks like this will continue for rest of the week.

Dunn Falls, Sanguinary Ridge

It was foggy in the AM turning to smokey. I guess the Canadian wildfires are still going strong. Went on a very nice loop in the AM. Out along numerous waterfalls until we got to Dunn Falls which is very nice. Big lower fall through a notch and also some impressive upper falls. Then back on the AT. Nice area with comfortable trails.... not eroded.

Then we went for quick hike on other side of Dixville Notch. Sanguinary Ridge trail. Again a nice non-eroded trail with many views into Dixville Notch. Smokey though.

Afternoon was canoe trip on Umbagog lake. Very calm. All kinds of interesting reflections. A big rock in the middle of the bay we were paddling on. This is a big lake. There are many islands to camp on that you can access from Umbagog SP where we are staying. Campground is very nice and clean so far. Heading into the weekend...

A long day but very good and different. Highlight was probably canoeing on the lake but then again...
