Burnt Rock Mountain

Up Burnt Mountain from the Fayston side. About 5 miles rt, similar to Camels Hump. It was a windy day but we went up the East side where the wind was blocked. Warm sunny blue sky day that turned quickly into light rain just as we were getting out of the woods. Nice day to be out and we found the elusive glacier pot hole!

Downhill - Smugglers Notch

11/24/17 was opening day at Smugglers Notch. Not many trails open but good conditions on the ones that were. Decent snow and no ice. They had Smugglers Alley open which has a nice pitch and has good snow. Got there at 8:00 and skied until 11:00. That was enough given the number of trails open. I ran into a person on the lift that I saw hiking Camels Hump the day before! Not many people on Camels Hump the day before so he was one of maybe 5-6 that I saw.

I decided to hike up into Smugglers Notch. Went up the closed road and then went up into the cliff area on the Mansfield side. I had been up there before. Interesting area that eventually becomes too steep. Lots of large rocks that have fallen off of the cliffs over the years. You feel exposed in that area!
