Bolton - First ski of the season

 First day of skiing and a pretty good one! Very little base but around a foot of snow in one storm. Temperatures stayed below freezing and continue to do so. Did not go on anything to too steep but took a few runs on Big Blue and some other trails where you could make some nice turns. Also did a x-country tour of Maple Loop. A good start!

Bolton November

11/13/21

Walking Broadway, Lower Lane, Twin Knolls, Maple Loop, Spruce, World Cup looking at signs.

See comments below next to pictures. GPS coordinates follow the picture.

Sunrise driving over

Hard to read on Broadway:

This is probably fine. Blank sign below good sign.

Tree on Broadway. I think Bolton will get this since it is on Broadway? If not, let us know and we will cut it up. Big section is off trail.

Twin Knolls and Broadway. Sign is fine:

Lower Lane sign is fine but a little dark:

This sign is also good. Varnish peeling some:

There is a sign where Spruce Run meets Maple Run. Below this where Goat Path goes straight, as you are coming up, and Spruce goes to left there is a sign for Goat Path but not for Spruce. Probably fine:

This is a white letter sign that is hard to see/read:

Missing map?:

This is where Maple Loop comes to an intersection with two unnamed trails that go to the right and to Broadway. Also the loop that goes up to Bobcat. Maple Loop, as we know is straight and up to the left here. There is a sign when you get up there that says Maple Loop but you can't see it if you are at this intersection. The sign is parallel to the trail. Maybe a sign on tree in center of picture that says Maple Loop and a Left Arrow?

World cup doesn't have a lot of signs in general. When you are starting on Broadway coming from the parking lot your first right is Bryant and World Cup. This is well marked with many signs. The second right off Broadway is World Cup. No sign here although we didn't see a place to put a sign. No trees in this area except small trees near entrance.
These signs are getting pretty rough:

World cup sign that needs red paint:

This sign is loose. I will put it up better when replacing tele practice slope sign:

This was on the ground. Held up by deck screws that snapped off. Did not have long nails with us so will hang up next time we are out. Took sign with us.

Update 11/24/21:

Broadway->Tear Drop->Maple Loop->Deer Run->Beaver Pond->Buchanan Shelter->

Harringtons View->North Ridge->Eagles Nest->Cliff Hanger->Prayer Flags

To be clear I took a right up the steep hill onto Beaver Pond at the end of Deer Run.

Some branches down on Beaver Pond, Buchanan area, LT, North Ridge

Two trees I could not remove.

The first tree is on Beaver Pond. 2/3 of the way up Beaver Pond before 3 way intersection where I continued up to Buchanan. This one is hanging by not much. I took away enough branches so you could get under it. I think it will fall down this winter but I could not make it fall down.

Second tree is on trail after Buchanan and before LT. This one is in a flat area and can be skied around. I didn't saw this one as I thought there would be more trees in worse areas going forward.

Put the "Tele Practice Slope" sign back up and moved "World Cup to Gardiners Lane" to a tree right next to the one it was falling off of.

Did remove one tree from LT before Harrington's View.

Will take a tour of Moose Ski and pond area next.

Tree on Beaver Pond:

Cut it up enough to ski under it:

Tree after Buchanan and before LT:

The rest of the pictures are just "nice day" pictures with no further tree issues.
