Storm aftermath 12/13, 12/14
It snowed Tue through Fri of the week leading up to this weekend. The mountains got 2+ feet of snow. Heavy snow with a lighter layer on top. Great skiing. Unfortunately the heavy snow took down a lot of limbs and bent over a lot of trees. Skiing at Carse road on Sat was difficult. The trail was hard to follow and even though I have been to the area many times I was lost a few times. Finally got out onto a large field area. It was nice to ski without going over and under branches. Smugglers Notch was in great shape Sunday. FreeFall and most trails were open which is surprising for this time of year. All of the snow had come in one storm and was good heavy covering snow and fun to ski in. The day was short as the lifts stopped at about 2:30 due to a power failure. This will make for a great base going into the season as long as the temperatures stay reasonably cold.

Sun in Dec - 12/5/14
Camels Hump on a blue sky day. This time of year skiing starts to become an option. My first day of skiing was last Saturday 11/29. We had some rain a few days ago which took away a lot of the snow. It looked like the mountains got another 2-4 recently that we didn't get near the lake. Up forest city and down Burrows. No one had been on Forest city since the last snow storm so it was untracked except for a rabbit that followed the trail for about a mile. It was surprising to see the tracks stay on the trail that long.
