Paddling Shelburne
La Platte river after biking in the AM. Windy on the lake but nice and calm on the river. Water is high from a lot of recent rain. I have posted lots of pictures like this but they are all different. Very nice get away very close to home.
Pine Hill trails - Rutland
These are great mountain bike trails. The only problem is that they are about 1.5 hours away from my house (1 way). The trails were made for mountain biking. They are not eroded much and have lots of switch backs and banked turns to make the riding a lot easier than general woods riding. We went up the main road to Rocky Pond and then worked our way around a lot of the trail system. There is a longer trail that goes from Rocky Pond to another trail head. We didn't do this section. Something to try some day.
Trailhead is Giorgetti Athletic Complex, 2 Oak St extension, Rutland, VT.
Now I need to find something like this closer to home.

Lake and App Gap to Camels Hump hike
Lamoille River: Put the kayak in 2-3 miles before the Lamoille reaches the lake at a ramp off of the islands highway exit. Paddled to the lake and then under the rt 2 bridge, Calm day with little to no wind so going out into the main lake was fine.
Appalachian gap to Camels hump. A 15 mile stretch of the long trail over Burnt Rock, Ira Allen, Ethan Allen, and Camels Hump mountains. About 4500 feet elevation gain. A seldom traveled part of the long trail ending at one of the most traveled mountains (Camels Hump). I think we saw 3 other people in the first 12.5 miles going to Camels Hump. We probably saw 50 people in the last 2.5 miles.
