Sailing - sunrise to sunset 7/12/14

Mayors Cup - sailboat race in Plattsburgh NY.

This is one of the larger summer races on the lake. Nice day with reasonable winds around 10 knots. Slowed somewhat in the afternoon toward the end of the race. The race was three hours long. Racing on John and Jill's J24.

The pictures below are traveling from Mallets Bay to Plattsburgh and back. No pictures during the race. Too much happening during the race to take pictures. Left at 5:30 AM and returned around 9PM. BBQ at the Naked Turtle (bar) afterward. A very nice day but pretty tired by the time I got home!

Mansfield from another angle 7/11/14

Started from the main hiking parking lot. Went up the Halfway House trail and then got onto the Canyon trail going North. This is an interesting trail with caves, cliffs, and good views. I stayed on Canyon extension until it came out up on the ridge. From there I went to the top of Mansfield and down the Sunset Ridge trail. Nice to have a hike like this so close. It is on the list to climb Killington which I have not climbed yet. It is one of 5 4000 footers in VT:
