Monument -> Glade Park

 We parked at the Rattlesnake Arches trailhead just off Rimrock Drive. We went about a mile on our bikes on the road leading to the start of the upper Rattlesnake Arches trail. We decided this road is too much for our car. So, Rattlesnake Arches can be accessed off of Pollock Bench, as I did before, or you could ride your mountain bike 14 miles RT to get to the 5 mile loop hike of the arches. Always wanted to see what this upper access is like. Now we have an idea.

Next we rode on 16 1/2 road to Glade Park. It is 5 miles one way. The Glade Park area is relatively flat and mostly farms and grass land. The town is one store. There are a number of ranches and houses spread out around the area. Lots of other roads that could be biked on in this area. Little car traffic. There is another road that goes from Glade Park back to a different area of Rimrock drive. Maybe this could be done as a loop with 16 1/2 road?

Today was Big Horn Sheep day. We saw about a dozen in different areas off of Rimrock Drive. We had a little light rain but could see heavy rain in the distance.

Kokopelli - Mountain Bike

 This is a great area for mountain biking. I started on rustlers loop which is a combination of trail above the river and then trail through a sandstone area. After that I went on Mary's trail but continued on it up to a different trailhead. This has more canyon rim riding and views of the river and surrounding hills. I saw very few people on the trails today. Strange since it was a Saturday. I heard voices at one point but it turned out to be rafters down on the river. Holly dropped me off at the trails in the am and then I rode back to the house on the bike path when I was done mountain biking. The tour of the moon, a big road bike event, was going to Loma on the bike path when I was headed back to Fruita. I went by hundreds of bikes! Popular event apparently.
