Mid July

Paddling LaPlatte river, Biking Long Point and Thompson Point, and Camels Hump from LT South from Richmond.

LaPlatte: There are always trees in the river that change position and sometimes block the river. So far this year I have been blocked before getting up to the cliffs and the falls. On this day the trees had positioned themselves so I could go all the way up until the current got too strong near the falls.

Shelburne Bay

Long Point: Started at the boat ramp in Converse bay and biked to Long Point and then out on Thompson Point on the way back.

Thompson Point

Camels Hump: LT South. 12.5 miles and 4K foot elevation gain. Nice day but hot summer hiking.

Camels Hump top just visible in distance.

Worcester Range

Surprisingly this was a new one for everyone involved (Sue, Jill, John, Bruce, Ken). Some of us had been up Hunger before but the rest of the trip was new. A nice day with great hiking temperatures and clear which seems to be rare this summer. We went up from the Hunger side, went up White Rock and Hunger, and then headed over on the ridge to Mt Worcester. The trail was not eroded and good walking. There were places where the ferns were growing over the trail so you could not see your feet. Not a lot of traffic! The trail down Worcester was eroded. Probably due to the way the trail was cut (straight down) rather than the traffic although maybe a combination of both. There was an interesting thick vein of quartz that ran down part of this trail. The trail sign indicated about a 9 mile hike. The reality is that it is more like 14. John's GPS said 14 and Sue verified this by looking at maps after. A long day but a good one!

Late June, Early July

Mansfield: Wampahoofus, ridge walk,  to LT South.

LT South is steep!

Laser on beach after sailing.

Mayors Cup July 8. Sailboat race in Plattsburg. Went from Mallets Bay to race and back in one day. A full day! Some rain and thunderstorms going over in the AM. Got lucky with storms around us for the rest of the day but no additional rain. No pictures during race but a few of the return trip below. Full moon and calm water near sunset...
