I was riding my bike today along the Riverfront Bike Trail and saw a fisheries truck backed up at the ramp. I went down to have a look. The Grand Valley Fish and Wildlife people were releasing 850 Razorback Sucker fish into the river. Nice people who told me about the four native species of Colorado fish and told me about the hatcheries and ponds where the fish stay for 1.5 years to grow. Behind the Snooks Bottom trail is one of the ponds. Unexpected learning experience while biking!
The four native species: Razorback Sucker, Colorado Pikeminnow, Bonytail, Humpback Chub.
