This is presidents day week. NY and MA have school vacations and that combined with Vale resorts makes this a week to avoid. I went today since we had 6 inches of snow last night. Nothing wrong with the skiing and the lines were really not that bad but the whole experience wasn't great. First they decided to institute paid parking even thought it wasn't a Holiday and it was mid week. So, you need to park 2 miles away and take a bus up to the still empty parking lot so that tourists with money can park there when they show up. Something about that makes for a bad start to the day and it is hard to shake. Then you have the tourists themselves. Like I said the lines were not really a problem. <10 minutes for the quad and no line at Sensation where I ended up. The problem is the lift stops constantly. I did not get up once without the lift stopping. How people can't get on a detachable lift, that is moving very slowly, is beyond me. I saw a number of people screw it up but I still explain how they did it. This isn't a problem other times of the year. Something in that city water I guess. The Vale employees now are clearly not familiar with the lifts or anything having to do with skiing. I realize Vale likely isn't paying them much of anything but it is a little frightening. Re-starting a lift is tricky when you have no idea how the lift works as I saw a few times today.
Anyway, going to do something else tomorrow and wait for this mess to go away.
