Clear and cold

After the storm week described in the previous post it was clear and cold. -5 in the AM getting up to 5-10 in the afternoon. Not much wind though and blue skies. Spent both days at Bolton since there was powder to be found all weekend. Everything was great including Paradise Pass off toward Cotton Brook and White Rabbit.  And every other trail I went on. Long day Sunday. Hard to leave. Spectacular days.
There were many areas where a fine dust of snow crystals was coming down from the trees and reflecting the light. The last picture tries to capture this but in this case you had to be there.

Good week

It snowed wed, thu, and into fri in the mountains. Probably 1.5 feet by the time all was said and done. I skied 4 out of 7 days this week! Always great when the ski days out number the work days. The first two days were stormy. I went to Stowe Wed and it was great snow but windy and they shut down the quad at about 9:30 and the Gondola around 11. Then I was on the mountain triple and heading into the woods every run so I could see.
Thursday was Trapps. Probably snowed 4 inches while we were there. We went up to the Skytop trail and broke trail for a little bit. A lot of snow up there! No pictures from Stowe, since it was a blizzard. A few pictures from Trapps although tough since it was snowing consistently all day. Trapps was very nice with new light powder on top of the groomed trails.

Sunday update

The forecast was for 1 inch in the mountains. When I got to Bolton at 9AM there was already 2-3 inches. It snowed the whole time I was there. Good to get there somewhat early as the wind kept picking up. When I left at 1:30 it felt like a blizzard. Blowing snow and significant wind. Another 2 inches fell while I was there but hard to say due to wind. Morning tracks were covered. Looks like we are back to winter!

Didn't get the camera out much due to snow/wind. A few pictures during a lull:

Skiing is looking up

Wed night (Jan 2) the mountains got 6 inches of snow. Nice light snow that made for a nice day at Stowe on Thursday. The snow was still good on Saturday at Bolton as long as you were up on the higher trails. There it was still nice powder. Snow in the forecast for next week. No big storm but a number of little ones.
