Chihully Museum

 This place is wild. Glass sculptures of all shapes, sizes, and colors. It was all good but I liked some of the outdoor pieces that were mixed with plants. We also watched a glass blowing demonstration which was interesting after guessing how things were made while walking around the museum. A lot of these pieces are BIG made up of many pieces. This is downtown near a new stadium they are building. Holly and I had seen a few Chihully pieces in Montreal maybe four years ago but nothing like this.

Later on in the evening we went to Aubi and Sarah's condo which is in the heart of the city. There is a roof top area there which has great views of the city.

Seattle

 Visiting Caroline and Adam in Seattle. The plan was to take a trip to Orcas Island and Olympic NP as well  as spend a few days in Seattle.

Seattle has a lot of parks. Some where in the range of 400. Adam took us to one of them on the first day. A great introduction to the trees and plants in the area. Seward park has some pretty large trees. We found out later that there are some good size Sequoia trees in a number of areas of the city including in someone's yard. It is amazing how well cared for most peoples yards are in the city. At least in the areas we walked in. A lot of flower gardens and a wide variety of plants we don't see in the East. We also walked in the Arboretum. Caroline worked at the Arboretum for a while and Adam currently works at the Audubon society at a site in Seward park.

The next day we went to Frink park which looks like an older less tended park with lots of big trees and what appears to be native vegetation. The park trails are steep and go down to Lake Washington. All the walks were very nice and when you consider they are city parks they are pretty impressive.
