Bolton

From the parking lot up to cabin it wasn't great. OK snow but lots of open water to cross. More water bars than when we were there two weeks ago. Above the cabin it turned to nothing but nice snow. Stowe View and Paradise Pass were great. Skiing up there was mid winter good with nice light snow. I then when down the Wilderness run which was a good way to get down. It had reasonable snow all the way down to the base. Holly went on Maple loop which was good and not too many water issues. Nice day to be out. Maybe 25 degrees and sun off and on. Avoid Coyote this winter as it has a few missing bridges.

Snow Luck

It rained about an inch and then three inches of heavy snow fell at the house. I knew the mountains would do better but still wasn't expecting much. Stowe had great snow top to bottom. I was expecting heavy snow but it was nice winter snow. You could tell they lost some base from rain but the snow that came at the end of the storm covered everything and it must have been much cooler in the mountains. They had a fair amount of terrain open like last week. Hay Ride, National, Center Line were the nicest runs today.

Next day... 2 inches new snow. Cloudy until end of day. Good snow!

Lamoille River Walk

Warm 50 degree day with 1-2 inches of rain moving in this afternoon. Snow on the tail end of the storm. 6-12 in the mountains? Unclear what winter activities will be like next week. Probably not good but we shall see. Today was walk near the Lamoille River in Milton. We turned the usual trail into a loop by following a trail out to where 89 crosses the river.

Winter Continues

Conditions remain great. Hay Ride was run of the day since they just opened the bottom half. I met Kris there. Coldest day I have been out this season but fortunately very little wind. Maybe 5-10 degrees in the morning. You could see to Mt Washington today. Snow making on the gondola area created clouds that just sat there. The bottom third of the mountain is still hard pack. Definitely a snow line there.
