Hazens Notch

Nice x country skiing near Montgomery. There was one other car in the parking area when we arrived. Trails are ungroomed and either had few tracks or no tracks. We went up the Sugar House Trail to Beaver Ponds to Sunset Ridge trail toward Burnt mountain. We went down Notch trail and Dodge trail. Nice downhill and fresh snow. One other track on this one. We ended up at the High Ponds farm trailhead and skied no trail back to the car which was about a mile away at the main center parking area. It seems like they gave up on the ski center and having volunteers for that. The trails were in decent shape so someone must still be clearing them. The sugar house and the barn and most buildings we encountered are in the process of falling down. Great place to go on a weekend away from it all.

Craftsbury

A nice day at Craftsbury. Ruthie's to Charlie's Cabin then on the lake and some skiing around on the South side of the ski center. There was enough snow from the last storm to make it good. Usually they get more snow than where we live but this year not so much. A comfortable day, 15-20 degrees, with moderate wind. Nicer in the woods than out on the lake! Topped the day off with some good diner food at Erica's.

Back to skiing

It has been an up and down year. We had about a week of poor skiing and then 4 inches a few days ago and then 6 last night with more snow coming down all day. A great day today in the snow. Windy but not enough to stop any lifts. No lift lines today on a Fri before Presidents Day. Great to get out there in powder before the weekend crowds strike.

Skiing the day before. Full sun!
