In the afternoon we went to Grand Mesa. 1 hour and 10 minutes away. It was 87 in Fruita and probably 60 at Grand Mesa. Grand Mesa is at 10,000 feet so much cooler and a forest rather than a high desert like you have in Fruita. We have x-country skied up here in the winter and it was great. The summer is very nice also. Lots of lakes and hiking trails. We went to Mesa Lakes trailhead and went to Lost Lake. Lots to explore here. I had read about Crags Crest trail and that will probably be the next hike if we have time.
