Craftsbury

This was a trip with the Burlington Ski and Outing Club going for a two day ski at Craftsbury. Due to the rain at the end of last week I was not expecting good conditions. It only snowed 1-2 inches after the rain in Craftsbury but somehow the center managed to have perfectly good conditions on all the trails we went on. Amazing grooming capabilities.
The trip included one night at Cedar Lodge, two days of skiing, dinner the first night and breakfast and lunch on the second day. A good group of people in the club and Ceder Lodge has a reasonable common area where we could get together. Some of the people in the group were staying at the new Cabins so we got a tour of two of them.
Day 1: Skied with Roxanne and Holly and went from the center to Charley's Cabin. Charley was not there but there was a friendly caretaker keeping the fire going and there were cookies. It was probably 10 degrees on this day but no wind and a lot of sun which made for a comfortable day of skiing. From the cabin we went down to Great Hosmer Pond. We looped around the pond and came off the lake near the center. It looks like rowing is very popular in the summer based on a building near the water that probably had 50 rowing sculls in it. From there we skied on the trails to the East of the center. The trails were in great shape everywhere including the pond.
Day 2: Went from the center to Craftsbury common. We went back via Little Hosmer pond. This was a nice day of fields, woods, and pond. Good variety and it was a warmer day (25) and again very little wind. After lunch I went for a quick ski on the trails to the East of the center before we left. We did manage to go to the Alchemist brewery in Stowe on the way back.

Great ski trip with a nice group of people!
