January update (2)

Well, it rained about an inch on Friday. Then got cold Fri night and snowed about 4 inches in the valley. The mountains didn't get any more than that and had more rain. Went skiing today at Shelburne Farms (valley) and it was good. No base but 4 inches of snow that was good enough to cover most things. The mountains are reporting poor conditions so it seems better down low? Went to the LaPlate river trails yesterday to ski. Mixed results. The river was very high so you could not get to the bridge from Shelburne Supermarket. The river was flowing fast and had gone beyond its banks. If we could have made it to the bridge I suspect that it would have been washed away. We went to the other side of the river with the car and did some skiing on the trails on that side. Good for the most part although hit water in one area which messed up the skis pretty well since it was well below freezing.
