Shaw Park -> Gambo and Hawkes Preserve

We have biked in this area and looked around the area some but today we found 2-3 miles of trails with some history. The gunpowder mill was back here. There are multiple stone ruins and signs talking about the process and the dangers. 45 men died working here over a period of time (1824-1905). There is also a tow path that we were mostly on for dragging boats by horse along the Presumpscot River. There are other trails back here also and lots of river front walking. Another interesting local walk.
