Today we drove from Cheticamp to Ingonish and stopped many times! Long day but a good one. Great road with lots of ocean views and hiking possibilities. And we saw a moose! And a bald eagle. We explored...
Skyline trail: The popular trail in the area. Very well maintained 5 mile loop with a long boardwalk along a ridge above the ocean. Parking permit needed. Good woods walk and the ridge was great. Popular for a reason!
Bog trail: This was an interesting board walk trail in a bog with insect eating plants and bull frogs. I like bogs!
Benjie's Lake: Walk through a bog-like area down to a lake.
Beulach Ban Falls: Didn't know about this one until we saw the sign on the road. Nice waterfall!
Meat Cove trail: This was a best of times and worst of times kind of story. Great ocean views. The best of the day. Terrible dirt road to get there, dicy parking on a hill, and lots of tall grass on a narrow ridge. But then you get out onto an open ridge with great views out to the ocean and into a bay and then to the surrounding mountains.
