Ethan allen, Ira, Burnt Rock, kayaking

Cooler day, below freezing AM getting up into the 40's, but nice for hiking and still good for kayaking. CH parking lot to Ethan Allen, Ira and Burnt rock. Sunny day. The parking lot was packed but I saw 2 people on this route. Days end quickly (4:30) these days but managed to get in a kayak with ended at sunset. Nearly full moon also coming up before sunset.

Last day of sailing tomorrow. Probably a few more kayak days but not many.

Looking back at Ethan and Ira from Burnt Rock

LT South from Trout Club in Stowe to Puffer shelter. Also some walking down to caves near beaver ponds. Cold in the AM but warmed up quickly. Some thin ice on the ponds.

Back to summer

After skiing last week it was 60 today. I started out at Mt Ethan Allen and Ira Allen which is LT South from Camels Hump. About 4 inches of wet snow at elevation. All the streams were back and moving along like it was Spring. A lot of snow melting out of the mountains.

The wind died in the afternoon so I went kayaking on the La Platte and on the lake. Still a number of birds around including two Blue Herons and lots of ducks. Also saw a beaver and about 50 turtles trying to catch that last warm day. Nice to revisit summer although I would have preferred to hang onto the snow at this point.
