Middle of Feb

Another great ski week comes to an end. Luckily there should be plenty of skiing next week also.

This week included Stowe, Bolton, CHSA, Bolton.

Since I haven't been to CHSA this year I will say a few things about that. The trails keep expanding there. You can go up to the Camels Hump Challenge trail past the bus and then connect back into the CHSA trails a few miles down the Challenge trail. Holly and I did that Sat as well as checking out a few groomers including Crows Foot which was our way down. It had snowed a few inches the night before and snowed the whole time we were there.

I had two half days off during the week. I planned on skiing both days at Stowe. The first day was windy and cold so I decided to go to Bolton instead. Good call as the lifts were on wind hold off and on and it was cold. The next day at Stowe was nice. Warmer and very little wind. Run of the day was lift line and Hay Ride. Both had nice powder turns all the way down. Woods off of Hay ride was skiing nice also.

Here we are CHSA:

Long Trail skiing

This is probably the busiest weekend for skiing of the year. MA and NY have school vacation and a lot of people live in those states.

I went to Bolton two days and managed to stay away from everyone. Sun I saw 2 people and Mon I saw no one. The parking lot was full Sun.

Sun was the big day. North Ridge->LT->Harringtons View->Buchannan lodge->Eagles nest loop->Goat->North Ridge. Lots of long trail and lots of other trails that are seldom used and pretty nice. Still had fresh tracks on some of the trails.

Mon I started at the snow mobile parking lot and headed up to the long trail. The snow mobile trail is no longer used by snow mobiles. Lots of open hills in this area so you can ski up/down in many places. No one had been on the long trail where I ended up since before the last storm. Another large area to explore. Lots of possibilities.

Day 2: Long trail further South going up from snow mobile trail. Nice area.

Another fine day

Thu afternoon at Bolton. Plenty of snow, some blue sky, and some territory I have not been to in a few years. Started with the usual Alchemist->Stowe View->Paradise pass-> white rabbit. Then up North Slope to Georges Gorge->Cliff Hanger->Prayer flags. Then to North Ridge up to Long trail. This was really nice. Down Eagles nest and Fox Hollow. Lots of powder in this area as there was only one track from the day before. It is getting very deep. If you plant a pole in the wrong place it can go down to the handle.
