Owls

When we were walking on the causeway a few days ago we say a snowy owl. I have heard about a number of sightings this year so it seems like there are a lot around. On the causeway the owl kept moving away from us as we got close. No pictures from that day but below are a number taken locally. Alan took most of them. There are a few from Jerry that are labeled.

More pictures I didn't take:

Mid December

Slow start to the snow this year. Only one day of skiing so far. It has been cold which makes for mostly icy hiking. A few days ago it snowed 3 feet just 2 hours South of here. We got 1-2 inches! Missed that one.

Ski - hike combo

First day of skiing at Stowe. It has been a slow start to the season so not many trails open. What was open was good with some snow from the night before on top of the man made. No ice, so a pleasant day. Covid means I ride with one other person who sits on opposite end of quad. Seems reasonable. I didn't go in the lodge to see what happens there. After skiing for 3 hours I hiked on the LT South to Taft Lodge and a half mile beyond. Pretty nice snow up high (3000+ feet).
