This was a long day! It did include hiking by a nice stream for many miles, a few higher altitude ponds, and many mountains. Three of these count on the 4K list while Mt Hight is over 4K but not on the list. Not enough up/down between Hight and Carter Dome. Don't forget to go up Mt Hight if returning for this trip someday. It only adds another .2 to the trip and the views from Hight of the presidential range are great. You can see the whole range from one end to the other.
This was a windy day. At one point I was at a view point on my way up Carter Dome. A big gust of wind came up and took my hat away. Instead of blowing sideways it went up and over the trees. I assumed it was gone. After hiking down from the view point and traveling the regular trail for a few hundred yards I saw the hat up in a tree! Very surprised to see it close enough to the trail and also low enough in the trees for me to get it with my ski pole.
Hiking from Wildcat A to Carter Dome involves a big downhill and then a big uphill. No ridge walking here! At the low point is a shelter and a nice pond. The shelter is closed due to the virus. Notice on the door did not have a date for re-opening.
To finish the mountains in this range I would need to go back and climb Middle Carter, Moriah, and Wildcat A. A lot of mountains in this range.
19 mile brook trail->Wilcat A->Carter Dome->Hight->South Carter->Carter Dome trail.
This makes 20 NH 4K footers since May 1. It has been interesting to see all these mountains again after so many years.
