Acadia NP - 6/23-6/24

6/23: Sunny day. Started at Wild Gardens of Acadia. Took the Emery path. They put a lot of effort into the trails in this park. They have been around for a long time but there are many places, including the Emory path where stone steps are in place for pretty long distances (1/4 to 1/2 mile stretches). This path went to Dorr mountain and then down into a gorge and up Cadillac mountain. On way back went down ladder trail which is and interesting cliff area with iron ladders and stone steps. Walked along the Tarn (shallow pond) to finish the hike.
In the afternoon I went to Beech mountain which has a fire tower. Views of Long Pond and the ocean in the distance. Then Beech cliff to Echo lake beach which has more cliffs going up on the sides of the beach. Finally to Bass Harbor lighthouse at end of the day.

6/24: Foggy all day. But it was actually kind of fun. From the top of one hill I listened to a lobster boat pick up traps for a while. You could hear the boat stop at a trap, lift the trap, and then move to the next one. Could not see anything but could tell what was happening.
Parked at Schooner Head. Walked to Schooner trail and then Great Head. Then went to Jordon Pond and walked around the lake. Good thing to do on a foggy day as you could see the pond and some of the surrounding mountains from time to time. Could see the Bubbles once in a while through the fog.
Went to Flying mountain. This was a short hike but you could hear the water was just below and this probably has a nice view. Finally ended up at Ship Harbor trail. Pink rock and more boats hidden by fog.
