Blood Mountain GA

We went up Blood Mountain which is the tallest mountain on the AT in Georgia. We went up the Byron Reece trailhead and connected with the AT. It was 40 when we woke up but quickly warmed up into the low 70's. This hike was close to Vogel SP where we are staying. A very solid CCC shelter at the top. Made of stone and good for another hundred years. Nice views of the surrounding mountains.

After that we went to Helton Creek Falls which was close by. Two big waterfalls after a short walk.

Then on to Blairsville. Stopped at the court house in the center of town which is a museum. One interesting room had miniature furniture collected from around the world that was placed into a series of doll house like structures. Pretty amazing.

Meeks Park in Blairsville for camp stove dinner.
