Tallulah Gorge SP

Two state parks today. Well, three really if you count Vogel where we are staying. The first was Tallulah Gorge SP. An impressive 1000 foot deep 2 mile long gorge with many large waterfalls. Hiking trail on both sides and a suspension bridge going across the gorge with the river maybe 300 feet below. The suspension bridge is half way down from the top so hundreds of stairs down to it and hundreds back up the other side. We also walked another long staircase trail down to the bottom of the gorge. Big waterfalls throughout and lots of up and down! Karl Wallenda tight rope walked from one side to the other in 1970 and there are remnants of the towers that he built on each side.

The second park was Moccasin Creek SP. We went on a 2 mile RT walk to Hemlock Falls. Nice trail that follows the river most of the way. Lots of smaller falls until you get to Hemlock Falls. The trail had rhododendron everywhere. Another nice one!
