Hunting Island SP

Today we went to Hunting Island SP with two stops at the Cypress Wetlands in Port Royal. Hunting Island SP has a number of trails and beach walks. One area has been changed by a few different hurricanes and has tree debris in and out of the ocean. They also have a nature center with small alligators, turtles, and snakes.

The Cypress Wetlands is small but always has something going on every time we have been there. It was cold today, 55-60, but we still saw a few alligators and many turtles. Lots of birds including what appeared to be a red shouldered hawk that sat in a tree right next to the board walk.

At the end of the day we went to the Marine museum in Paris Island. Interesting boot camp video and all kinds of marine gear from past wars. A large base with a long history.

It looks like it will be cooler with temps in the high 50's for the rest of the visit.
