Checking out new to me preserves just North of Portland. First up was Little John Island Preserve. Little John Island is just past Cousins Island. This was a nice loop through the woods with ocean views and then out to a beach. I was here at low tide which makes the beach walkable. I stopped just before the Cousins Island bridge on the way back. There is a beach here and a 5 mile one way bike path to check out some day.
Then on to Broad Cove Preserve. A 1 mile RT trip to the beach. Nice beach and the walk to get there is nice also. This may be crowded in the summer?
Finally Presumpscot Falls Park. This is a trail along the river. Nice but lots of roots and up and down. I gave up quickly on this one as I am recovering from a health problem. Something to explore another day.
