Nova Scotia - Cape Breton 2

9-5 Drove to Ingonish which is on the East side of the park. Cloudy in am then turned into nice cool sunny day. Nice stretch of road with hiking options and many view points. Walked around Neils harbour. Lighthouse and fishing harbor. Lobster fishing. Then went to black brook beach and coastal trail.
This was great. Black brook has nice falls and empties into ocean. Many places to walk out on cool
rocks that go out into the ocean. Lots of crashing waves and water funneling around. Rocks were big
and could walk out on large smooth areas.
Next was green cove. Short walk out to ocean on big rocks. Lots of stripes of different rock
 on this coast.
Then went out beyond Keltic Lodge to nice trail that goes a mile out onto a head of rock.
More big waves and water moving through the rocks.
Great day with many ocean hikes.

Keltic Lodge - hiking trail went out to point beyond lodge

9-6 Franey trail. 6 mile loop up on a hill. Nice view of ocean from above and long valley. Nice area.
Then on to Fresh lake behind ocean. Protected from sea by 20 foot piles of small rocks. Nice walk along ocean, around lake, and then up steep short hill to look down on it all.
Parks and campgrounds closed fri and sat due to hurricane. Forecast calling for Cat 2 hurricane hitting Halifax and Cape Breton.
Decided to go to Truro which is central Nova Scotia. Got there at 8 and found that area was supposed
to get hit pretty hard. Against my no night driving rule I headed to Moncton. Another 2+ hours west.
Stayed at truck stop fri night. Tired! Long day!
This was a nice sunny day with little wind. I would never guess that there was a storm coming.
