Checking out the Long Trail from Codding Hollow road. It is 27 miles (44 minutes) from house. Walked up to Laraway mountain and back and then went on LT South from parking area for a few miles. Laraway is a nice short hike. Lots of waterfalls this time of year. A number of rock ledges and a view South to Mansfield, Madonna, and Whiteface. LT South is 6.6 miles to Rt 15 parking area. The part of this that I did is pretty flat so could be good for x-country skiing next winter?

Long Trail North from Rt 15 - 5/7/21
I parked off hog back road instead of the regular parking lot because there is a river crossing that doesn't work unless it is pretty dry. Wanted to go to Prospect Rock but it is closed Mar-Jul for falcon nesting. So, not much up this way except a nice walk in the woods. The next thing to try is LT South from this Johnson Rt 15 parking area. It should be 6.5 one way to Whiteface from this parking area.
