Whiteface mountain from Long Trail South. Started at parking lot on rt 15 in Johnson. This is a longer hike: 14 miles RT. Of the 14 miles about 4 miles are logging roads which isn't too exciting. After that it is woods walking with a few nice streams. I did not see anyone all day so it is not a popular route! Going from Sterling mountain is nicer and shorter. This route may be interesting for x-country skiing in the winter? A warm day at 75 in the valley but comfortable up higher. Still some snow around near the top. Most of the climbing is in the last 2 miles.
