Great weather today for a mountain hike. Clear and cold when I started out just before sun up at around 6:30. I wore light winter clothes all day since the temperature was 25-35 most of the day. Clear day with few clouds which made for great views. And there are views! This is part of the 10 mile range. There are many other ranges and mountains that could be seen from the top. Lots of views most of the time since 2/3 of the hike is above tree line. Loose rock above tree line which made for a tough downhill. The first part of the trail is in the woods and a lot smoother. Pretty steep for the last mile. Some crazy young guy was wearing shorts and a t shirt at the top. Temperature was maybe 35 with a 15-20 mph breeze.
Quandary Peak is a 14,272 mountain near Breckenridge. It is a 7 mile hike via the East Ridge Route with 3500 feet of elevation gain. This took me 5.5 hours and was a lot of work with all the loose rock.
