Turkey Flats Loop - Glade Park

This is a nice loop that starts 10+ miles from the Glade Park store. 8 miles of dirt driving but not bad for a dirt road. The trail goes by Fruita Reservoir 1 which was maybe 1/4 full. There are a lot of open fields and Aspen trees in this area. We went clock wise around the loop which is recommended. The trail goes up for a while after the reservoir to about 9500 feet and then a slow down after that in a dense pine forest. This trail is 9.5 miles and would make for a good ski, if you could get there in the winter, or a good mountain bike. A wide variety of trees and different soil types from dry sand to wet areas with mushrooms. We saw one tree with deep marks in it. Maybe a bear? A deer or elk would be more of a scratch instead of deep marks? We did see a deer during the hike and many different birds.
