Okefenokee by water

Boat tour. Probably the most interesting part was going out into the "prairie" which was an area of cedar trees growing on islands of peat with colorful lilly pads all around. Lots of alligators, turtles, and some herons. Very knowledgeable tour guide. Alligators stop eating this time of year and don't eat again until February. The distance from their eyes to the end of their head in inches is roughly their length in feat. The swamp is mostly 2-3 foot deep. Clean water but acidic. Turtles were close to alligators this time of year since they know alligators have stopped feeding. Alligators can't eat this time of year because they don't have enough energy to digest the food. Very cool to be out in a boat in this large swamp.
