I started on this hike at the trailhead about 14 miles East of Escalante. This trail goes to the town of Escalante so you could start at that end. This is a very nice river walk. Add to that a natural bridge, an arch, cliff dwellings, and petroglyphs. You need to cross the Escalante River a number of times. The water is a foot deep and sometimes more at the crossings so whatever you are wearing for shoes will be wet. I wore tivas which worked better than hiking boots I suspect. The trail follows the river so lots of trees and growth. Plenty to see on this hike. A great one! This was a 4.5 mile hike RT.
