Cannon mountain

Cannon is a short hike, maybe 4 miles RT, with good views of Lafayette and Lincoln where I was a few days ago. Today was much colder than it has been and was nice for hiking. Back to winter hat and gloves with temperatures around 40 up high.
I ran into 2 different porcupines on the ski trails. I hiked up and down the ski trails to avoid people since it was a weekend day. The first porcupine puffed himself up so I gave him plenty of room. The second walked slowly into the woods after he saw me. There is a picture below but I needed a better camera to catch him at the distance I was comfortable with.
The hike didn't take long so I went up Bald mountain and Artists bluff which are two short hikes from the Cannon parking lot that have nice views back at Cannon and a different angle on Lafayette.
After that I went to the Basin and explored a little more there. There are a number of nice trails and many waterfalls of all shapes and sizes.

Porcupine. Hard to see in this picture.

Map of area for future reference:

Pictures taken from Bald Mountain looking back at Cannon and Lafayette range.

The Basin. Plenty of waterfalls. I spent more time here this time around. Nice place to wander around. Many of the pictures were taken on a trail that heads towards Lonesome Lake.
