Osceola - East Peak and Osceola

Two more 4000 footers in the Sandwich range. You can hike this from the Waterville Valley area or 112 (Kancamagus highway). I went from 112 since the road was closed (Tripoli road) on the Waterville valley side which would have added 2+ miles each way to get to the trail head. This is another steep mountain! Going up East Peak turned into long stretches of snow/ice that took a while to navigate. The trail between the two mountains is easier and nicer. There is a "Chimney" section that is very steep but mostly rock so a lot easier than the typical snow/ice trail. There are views here and there going up East Peak. Osceola itself has better views in most directions except South. Views of Mt Washington and Lafayette range. This day was 8 miles but took a long time due to the trail conditions.

The rest of these pictures are driving back on the Kancamagus highway. It goes up to about 2500 feet and I stopped at a nice waterfall area on the Rt 16 side.
