Lafayette, Lincoln, Little Haystack

This was one of the better hikes I have done recently. I started on the Falling Waters trail which stays near a large river for maybe a mile. Many waterfalls of all types and sizes. It was also hot and the humidity was high in the AM but the river made it at least 10 degrees cooler. The trail goes up Little Haystack first and then you are on the ridge for about 2 miles. Views to Cannon mountain and many other mountains in the area including the presidential range. This wasn't a particularly clear day since it was so hot. Nice up on the ridge with temperatures around 60. The trail then goes over Lincoln and Lafayette before heading down the Bridle Path. Lots of views for most of the day. It was hard making progress on the Falling Waters trails since there were so many waterfalls to stop at.
Day was 8.6 miles and 3800 foot elevation gain. A very nice loop.
Also quickly checked out the Basin before the hike and a quick tour of the Cannon mountain area after the hike.

First I stopped at the Basin which is right off 93. The trailhead for the hike is the exit after the Basin and is called Lafayette Place Trailhead. The Basin may be a place to explore at some point. I just went to the main attraction and left. It looked like there was a lot more there?

The Basin

The waterfalls that follow are on the Falling Waters trail. A very nice way to get up to elevation.

Looking back at Little Haystack. Flume and Liberty in the background?

The next few are after the hike. Stopped at two of the Cannon mountain exits.
