Bluffton, Spanish Moss Trail

The day started in Old Town Bluffton. A walk near the May River and a loop around town. A lot of art galleries. We went to a few. The best one, in our opinion, was a photo artist. Wildlife and nature photos mostly from the area. He printed his photos on canvas and they had a painting look to them. Great bird photos and some ocean photos.

Next we went biking on the Spanish Moss Trail. It was a 22 mile ride total. Through some marsh and river areas, woods, and some industrial areas. The trail is made of cement slabs. Smooth and would be fine on a road bike except there were a lot of acorns or something similar in some areas that could be tricky on a road bike. They plan to extend this trail in the future. Only two road crossings where you  had to get off your bike and wait for a light. A pretty nice bike trail and not that far away from Hilton Head.

The bike trail is very close to the Cypress Wetlands so we walked around there after. No alligators which is strange. Maybe because it was late in the day or maybe because it was cooler (60) today? Very interesting water reflections at the end of the day. Lastly we went to Sands Beach. A long board walk over oyster beds and grass lands. A number of white egrets around. At the end of the board walk there is a 50 foot tower you can walk up. We watched the sun set from there.
