Kouchibouguac Biking

This morning we rented bikes for a half day. They had fat bikes which was a first for both of us. They worked out pretty well. A little slower than a mountain bike but very comfortable. A lot of cushion in the big tires. At one point we took them on a mountain bike trail and they did well over rough terrain such as roots and did OK in mud. This mountain bike trail also had lots of long board walks over wet areas. Really well done trail. The other trails we rode on were one lane wide fine gravel roads. In great shape and easy to cruise around on. Very good park for biking. We also did a little sand riding on a beach and these bikes are great for that also.

The afternoon involved walking along a beach part in the water and part out. There is a long barrier island protecting this beach. There is grass with about a foot of peat under it very close to the ocean. There are some very cold water springs coming out of the peat. Interesting area.

Note: If we return to this area try staying at South Kouchibouguac campground. We talked to someone who is staying there and they said it wasn't buggy. Where we are, Parc Daigle, is very buggy. Note 2: Very few people around here but people say July 1 that will change quickly.
