Giant Mountain - NY

A nice day for hiking with temps in the 40's at elevation and a mix of clouds and sun.

This was a loop hike to Giant Mountain in the Adirondack's. Started at the Chapel Pond parking. We got there at 8 which meant leaving VT at 6. The ADKs are very busy these days but on this day it was not busy which meant we could have left at any time. We only saw less than 10 people all day. Parking was no problem. We did talk to someone on the trail who said he got to the ADK Loj at 4am and the lot was almost full! Must have been a Saturday?

We started on the Ridge Trail and then got onto the Nubble Trail at the Giant Washbowl. Up and down the Nubble with nice views to Chapel Pond and beyond. Then to Roaring Brook trail where we back tracked to Roaring Brook Falls. Then up to Giant and down Ridge Trail. A nice loop with lots of variety.

Today made me think that we should do more ADK hikes mid week.
