South Crocker, Redington, North Crocker

The day started with four miles of rough road. Looked like a logging road that had not been maintained in a while. Old wooden bridges and plenty of deep pot holes. A little sketchy with the van but we made it to the trailhead. We didn't see anyone all day hiking even though most of the day was on the AT.

Going up South Crocker was very steep for a one mile section. Most of the elevation gain happened at once. Redington is trail less although easy enough to follow the path from many previous hikers. Trail was narrow in spots and trees and branches across the path in a number of places. At the top there was a Partridge walking around right near us. Then back to South Crocker and from there to North Crocker. Then back to South Crocker! North Crocker had some views of Redington. Holly skipped North Crocker and napped in the sun on a rock at South Crocker.

We saw moose tracks in a few places going over to Redington. Leaves are getting past peak now and it was windy today so lots of leaves down on the trail.

Pizza for dinner which tasted pretty good after a long day.

Bigelow Preserve area. I think.

I am guessing this is mile 2000 on the AT starting from Georgia?
