Rangeley Area

We started out at Small Falls on the Sandy river near Rangeley Maine. A very nice series of falls and pools. Then off to a short hike (3.5 RT) on the Appalachian trail. This went to Piazza Rock which is a very big overhanging rock. The whole area is filled with Rock jumbles and caves. Very interesting and nice peak leaf day to be walking in the woods. This is the fourth day where we spent at least part of the day on the Appalachian trail. Then to Rangeley Lake for late lunch and relaxing. Clear again today with no smoke and plenty of sun. Highs around 65 which makes for a nice walking day.

Bigelow mountains. Pretty sure.

Saddleback on right and Saddleback the Horn on left.

Piazza Rock hike

Up on top of Piazza Rock. The red speck is me.

Lots of caves in the area. Some had very square sides like they were cut.

Cascade Stream Gorge Trail. Amazing how many nice waterfalls there are in this area. Trail kept going but they had a sign about a ground bee nest on the trail so we turned around.
