Grand Manan - day 4

Today in the am I took a ferry to a smaller island called White Head. The highlight of the day was the ride over. The water was near calm and seals were swimming around near the ferry. The island has less than 200 people. Many trails around the outer edge of the island or you can walk on the beach. Nice place but foggy over there. I talked to a local on the ride over and he said it would be sunny. He should be a weather man since he is happy to guess wrong! The automated light house was running and putting out a loud sound every 15 seconds.

I got back to Grand Manan around 2:00 and went on the flock of sheep trail near the south end. A mix of fog and sun. The sheep are glacial erratics that were left on top of the volcanic rock during the last ice age. Some of the volcanic rock is vertical jagged cylinders. Interesting.

Big waves today on both islands!

Finally to Red Point to walk along the beach there. Still want to get back to the South end when there is less fog.
