Today was snow shoeing at the Lower/winter Rock Creek Trailhead. Because I was at the lower/winter area there was 1.5 miles of road to get to the summer parking area. Since the road was buried in many feet of snow and went through a forest it wasn't much different than the trail. Just wider. This trail and a number of others are in the Eagles Nest Wilderness. A large area that would be great for x country skiing also. I went left on the Gore Range trail for a while. This went into a river area. Then I went on the North Rock Creek trail which had some nice mountain views although today you could see only enough through the clouds to know that there are views there.
Yesterday was 50 with bright sun. Today had a high of 20 with high winds. The sun tried to come out and half the time it was pretty nice. Other times it was snowing hard and windy and toward the end it was a blizzard for about a half hour. Hard to say how much snow last night and today but I would guess 6 inches.
