Keystone

Today was another happy day skiing in the mountains. Maybe 1-2 inches of snow last night on top of a nice powder base. Temperatures remain winter and it was about 10 degrees when the lifts opened. Mostly cloudy with some snow and sun. Lots of good woods today and I found a large area off the Outback lift. I left the mountain at about 1:00 to drive to Grand Junction. You can get a lot of skiing in 4.5 hours at Keystone. Direct fast lifts and easy to go from one area to another. It helps that I know it now.

The drive to Grand Junction is I70 west along the Colorado river with big mountains everywhere. There are only a few places to stop and you can't pull over. Tunnels and elevated cement roadway with no breakdown lane. Two trucks crashed and they closed off one of two lanes to work on it. Lots of boxes and stuff all over as the one truck was caved in on the side. Anyway it would be nice to spend some time in this area. There is a rest stop called Grizzly that has hiking and nice views and river. I know this from last years trip.

At camp ground in Grand Junction. Low is 20 the next few nights so will be cold. Wet snow falling as I write this.
