The afternoon found us at the Mica Mine trail. Only a few miles from the Ribbon trail but very different. This was a canyon hike to a mica mine that was in operation from 1907-1980. A lot of quartz in the area and small quartz chips were all over the sides of the trail when we got close to the mine. This same trailhead goes to Rough Canyon trail which I went on last year.
