We drove from Heber City UT to Colorado Springs today. We took 40 and then cut down to 70 in rifle. Got off 70 in Breckenridge and went on 9 to get to Colorado Springs. Most of this route, except the 70 part, was new to us. A good route in general. 9 is interesting as it goes up to 11,500 feet and then goes down to 9000 where you drive for many miles on a flat plain at that high elevation.
We stopped at Dinosaur National Monument which is in the border of UT and CO. There is a whole canyons area we didn't go to. We just had a brief visit on the UT side. The highlight was a large wall filled with dinosaur bones. They built a building around it. You can walk along the wall and look at the exposed bones from what they guess is around 100 different dinosaurs. Pretty amazing. Many skeletons were removed from the surrounding area.
